Garry Moore is an American entertainment artist, comedian, game host, and comedian best known for his television work. He began a long career with the CBS network starting with radio in 1937 and later as a television presenter on a number of variety and game shows from 1949 to the mid-1970s. After dropping out of high school, Moore succeeded as a radio presenter and later moved on to television. He has hosted a number of daytime and Golden Hour shows called The Garry Moore Show and game shows I Have Secrets and Tell the Truth. He is credited with advancing the career of comedian Carol Burnett. He is known for his fashion bows and cutouts very early in his career. After being diagnosed with throat cancer in 1976, Moore retired from broadcasting, only appearing on television on a few rare occasions. He spent his final years at Hilton Head, South Carolina, and at his summer home in Northeast Harbor, Maine.
